Dr Cobb is a field archaeologist, a ceramics specialist, and a digital humanist.  Archaeology studies human life, communications, and development through the material remains of the past.  Dr Cobb leads fieldwork in Southwest Asia (the Ancient Near East) each summer and also participates in a project in Laos.  His information science research engages with the recording and analysis of multi-modal data about the past, including 3d spatial and morphological modeling.
